This word completely firmly entered the language of the System (ie Russian and Eastern European hippies). Usually, this is an old apartment building, in which temporarily no one lives (either the house is prepared for scrapping, or for overhaul, but such houses are abandoned for years). In this house people settle in (most of them are not homeless people at all, but simply young people, who are tired of living with their parents, but do not have any money for their housing), somehow they equip their new dwelling-they drag some furniture, paint walls, manage even illegally connect to the water supply and electricity (but this is usually until the next raid cops, which all chop off). An original commune is formed. The civil audience looks at squat residents squinting – they do not understand how to live voluntarily under such conditions, and the authorities often remain calm: the fact is that when nobody lives in the house, it quickly collapses, and the presence of squat helps to keep the building up to As long as there is money to repair it or restore it. Here such original preservation.

There is such a category of youth in Russia, calling themselves “patrons” (see for example www.udaff.com). And now remember the Last Hero of the first bottling, namely a young man named Sergei Sakin. The young man wrote the book “More Ben” (among other things, having received the “Debut” award) about how he’s with one more “padonkam” went to London. So on their slang, & quot; fit & quot; (somewhere) means to find a place for spending the night or for a longer period. True, these are not necessarily empty premises, you can fit in with friends, for example.
The variant, of course, is rather spetfic, not everyone will understand, but it is very close in spirit to the environment about which the story may well be appropriate in your context.

It is not entirely clear what exactly you need. In Russian, the verb with the meaning of squat simply does not exist. The reasons for the absence of the term are simple: a different language structure and the absence of such a phenomenon (in the past, at least). Capture, in general, in Soviet times there was simply nothing. Therefore, since those times, when describing this phenomenon, supposedly inherent only in the capitalist system, only nouns-squids “squatting” were used; and & quot; squatters & quot ;. As a rule, these words were accompanied by an explanation (from English squat – it is illegal to seize vacant premises, to settle in.).
So it’s shorter, thinking, it will not work. & quot; Capture & quot ;, & quot; quietly settling & quot ;, and the like. more or less understandable. But & quot; fit in & quot; – it is very specific, not everyone will understand this jargon. And here is the “bomber” as a place of dwelling (busy vacant house, cottage, cellar) is clear, I think, to everyone.
But & quot; zabugorny & quot; context. You have a difficult task.
