How to get from Bangkok to Krabi and Ao Nang & # 8212; all ways.
Last Updated: 2018-01-16 Oleg Lazhechnikov 12.
I tried to collect all the ways how you can get to Krabi from the capital of Thailand, Bangkok. There are budgetary options, there is not much. But in terms of convenience Krabi will give odds to Samui, it is trite because it is not an island and you do not need to contact the ferry. On the other hand, Krabi is away from the railroad, which makes the option of traveling by train not as convenient as we would like. We in general last time simply took in the car in rent in Bangkok and on it within several days reached. We could get there in 1 day, but we made stops in the beautiful national park Samroyyot and the Khao Sok National Park.
From Bangkok to Krabi.
The plane is in the first place, because the price / convenience ratio is very good. This is not Bangkok-Samui, where the monopoly of Bangkok Airways and the roofed prices are higher. For the price of about 1000-2000 baht, you can easily buy a ticket for a plane from Airasia or Nokair and quickly fly to Krabi.
However, there is such a nuance that Airasia and Nokair fly from Don Muang airport, so if you arrive standard in Suvarnabhumi, then you will still have to pawn time and effort to get to another airport. However, it will take you 30-60 minutes by taxi and about 300-500 baht in monetary terms. Also there are free shuttle buses between airports. Details in the article about Don Muang, I already gave the link. By the way, as an option, you can spend the night in Bangkok in Nasa Vegas, where I stayed several times, an inexpensive transit hotel.
If you are going to buy air tickets, I advise you to do this through Aviasales.ru and Skyscanner.ru, we use them ourselves, very convenient services.
But from the airport in Krabi to get to Ao Nang is not difficult. You are likely to go to Ao Nang, it’s where everyone lives. So, from the airport there are buses and their schedule is arranged for the time of arrival of flights. Well, and no one bothers to take a taxi.
Also, it’s worth mentioning that you can fly to Krabi from Suvarnabhumi Airport on Thai Airways, but the price will not be as pleasant as that of the loukostes. Therefore, the price / convenience ratio, this option is not as delicious as described above. But here everyone himself chooses how much is willing to spend on moving.
Airport in Krabi.
The bus is Bangkok-Krabi.
South Bus Station.
Buses to Krabi depart from the South Bus Station, which is easiest to get there by taxi from Suvarnafumi Airport. Taxis I recommend to anyone who has no experience of traveling around the city, burdened with luggage or just terribly tired after the flight. Sit down only to the driver who does not refuse to take the counter. The bus station is called Sai Thai Mai, and do not forget to tell the taxi driver that you need a new one, the New Sai Thai Bass Terminal, otherwise you can be brought to another place. Just in case the bus stations of Bangkok.

Time in a way and nuances.
The journey time is about 12 hours, the bus arrives at the Krabi Town bus station. From Bangkok to Krabi there are three flights, one morning and two night flights. Given that on the road you will spend half a day, it is better to sleep them safely, so choose one of the evening.
Before you put your suitcase in the luggage compartment, get the warm things that will soon come in handy on the road. It’s just that Thai drivers have, to put it mildly, a feature that is expressed in a fully functioning air conditioner. Even if you read this smiling, remember the warm things, they will help you to get to Krabi without inflammation of the lungs.
The disadvantages of this method: a long time on the road, an uncomfortable temperature, not the most convenient place.
Pros: low price, the opportunity to sleep on the road.
How to buy a bus ticket online.
Tickets are sold at the ticket offices on the third floor of the bus station, priced from 500 to 1000 baht, depending on the company chosen and class of service.
Tickets via the Internet can be bought now only on the site 12Go.asia. In its base there are almost all bus companies, so there will be a choice. But the directions are not all, only popular. In some city in a remote province, you will not be able to buy a ticket. Payment by bank card or PayPal, the ticket is electronic, very convenient!
Train + bus.
Scheme of displacement.
If you decide to get from Bangkok to Krabi by train, that is a snag – there are no direct trains to Krabi province, because you have not yet laid the rails in this part of the Kingdom of Thailand. So, the route will be a combined “train + bus”.
When choosing a ticket for a train, plan a destination in the cities of Suratthani (Surat), Nakhon Si Tammarat (Nakhon) or Trang. Just say at the checkout office that you are traveling to Krabi, you will be sold a ticket for the bus (the price is within 350-400 baht) and is guaranteed to be met by the train and held by the hand to the bus.
Trains to Suratthani go every hour and a half, and only two trains leave for Trang and Nakhon in the evening. The cost of the railway ticket is between 400 and 1500 baht, depending on the class of the car and whether the top or bottom you will have a seat. It is better to go by express train of 1 st or 2 nd class with air conditioning. In Thailand, like in Russia, railway workers love extremes. In the Thai car air conditioners work as in a refrigerator, so prepare a rug, socks, jackets, jackets and closed shoes, you will need them. More about the Thai railways, I wrote in another post.
Travel time to Suratthani is about 13 hours, before Trang about 15 hours, and to Nakhon about 17 hours. After that, you will get a bus ride from the railway station to the carrier’s office, waiting for the shuttle bus to Krabi and a trip to Krabi – about 3 hours.
There is one more nuance of the “train + bus” variant, which is that each company brings you to its office, from which you still have to take a taxi or a sonteo to get to the house or hotel. The office can be located in both Krabi Town and Ao Nang.
Cons of this way to get from Bangkok to Krabi: a long time on the road, many transplants, the final stop is far from the main resort of Krabi.
Pros: on the train you can sleep on a full bed, but this is only part of the journey.
Second class with air conditioning, as our reserved seat.
Railway station in Bangkok.
To get from Suvarnafumi Airport to Bangkok Railways railway station, you can take the City Link overhead line. Drive to Makkasan station, then change to MRT Phetchaburi underground station and wait for the terminal station of Hua Lamphong.
If there is no mood to roam the transplants of the Thai subway, take a taxi to the airport at Bangkok Railways and insist on the inclusion of a counter.

How to buy a train ticket online.
Buy a combined ticket for the train / bus you can, as in the box office of Hua Lampong, and in any travel agency, on the streets of Bangkok. In my opinion, if you really buy tickets in the agency, it is better to do it in advance and through the Internet. This possibility is & # 8212; 12Go.asia. Payment by credit card or PayPal. The bus ticket is electronic, the train must necessarily receive the original, either at the agency’s office (several points) or by mail. Unfortunately, Thai railways do not support the e-ticketing system.
Rent a Car.
Reserve a car better in a well-known company. You will be given a car with a full tank of fuel, insurance and in good technical condition, which is important for such a long stretch – from Bangkok to Krabi about 780 km. Details about car rental in Thailand. By the way, the car can be taken at the airport of Krabi upon arrival.
On average, the cost of renting a car costs about 1000 baht a day. The price range for official distributors is from 800 to 3500 baht. The deposit for the car is usually 10,000 baht. This amount is frozen on your card until the car returns (which is why it’s good to use a credit card).
The car is best taken through Rentalcars.com, this is a broker. He will give on his website offers from all major distributors in the country. The price can be even lower than directly, plus full insurance can be given free of charge. I usually take in Hertz, because if you take their car for a period of 5 days, then it can be returned to another place for free (other companies charge a commission for this). And just on this site it is convenient to compare what is cheaper to come out, pay this commission, or not to pay, as the price per day differs for all companies.
From Suvarnafumi Airport to Krabi itself, there is a multi-lane motorway with excellent quality road surface. If you have driving skills on roads with left-hand traffic, you can keep within 11-12 hours of travel with short stops for rest. With an average fuel consumption along the route, even 10 liters per hundred, you will burn 80 liters of gasoline. That’s about 2400 baht.
The car is returned at Krabi airport, at the company counter. The approximate total cost of such a trip from Bangkok to Krabi, for two people – about 3,500 baht, if you do not take into account the cost of the service to return the car to another location. And if you take into account, then you need to add about 5000 baht, or simply take the car for a longer period of 5 days, then this service can become free (for example, in Hertz). We just took a car to get to Ao Nang, so infa first-hand, as they say. We really enjoyed.
Cons: travel time, freezing of the mortgage, it is necessary to have a driver’s license of the required category, after a difficult flight you will have to lose a day in Bangkok for a rest before the road.
Pros: price, comfort, interesting experience and impressions.
By car from Bangkok to Krabi.
By taxi or transfer.
Exotic way, but none the less. Not the fact that the first taxi driver will agree, and not even the second and not the third. Just be prepared for the fact that prices will dance from 10,000 baht and into the sky. At what price to agree? You already know the approximate cost price of a gasoline trip, multiply this amount by two (after all, the taxi driver has yet to return back) and plus two or three thousand more for the provision of services – this will be the minimum that taxi drivers will agree to. More about the taxi in Bangkok, but this post is about moving around Bangkok itself. In general, on such a long haul, looking for a taxi is a bad idea.
Price for transportation. Ao Nang & # 8212; Bangkok costs 12 thousand baht.
From Phuket to Krabi.
In Krabi it is much faster to get from Phuket, there only 2.5-3 hours by car. And if from Bangkok I would only get by plane, then from Phuket it’s even easier to take a transfer or taxi right away to the hotel in Ao Nang, it will be faster than the plane with its check-in, baggage and transfer from the airport to Krabi to the hotel. Also, as an option, rent a car, but I already wrote about rented cars, I will not repeat.
Buses and minivans leave from Phuket to Krabi several times a day from Bus Station No. 2, which is in the north of Phuket Town, next to the Super Cheap Market. Buses start to walk around the middle of the seventh morning and finish at five in the evening, depart every hour. One way ticket costs about 150 baht. The bus goes to Krabi about 3 hours. Buses from Phuket come to the Krabi bus station, Talat Kao Bus Station, which is a few kilometers from the city. From this bus station to the Krabi Town or to Ao Nang, you can get there by shuttle bus or taxi. If the goal is & # 8212; Ao Nang, it should be noted that singteo will still go through Krabi Town, the ticket will cost about 60 baht, it will take 40 minutes by the time. If you go on a minivan, the travel time may be longer, as they make a lot of stops and call in many places, collecting tourists. At the same time for convenience minivan is not better than a bus.
Transfer via the Internet.
Anyone who wants a minimum of body movements, can order online an individual transfer to Kiwitaxi. That is, you order a taxi in advance via the Internet, on the spot you will be met in the arrival hall, take your luggage, put in a car and drive to the right place. The method is good because there are no problems at all. At the price all the same (from 2800 baht), if you took a taxi on the spot, just spend a little more time.
Taxi upon arrival.
No one interferes with taking a taxi on arrival in Phuket. The cost will be from 2,800 baht for a car, and from 3000 baht per minibus. As I said, you can order the exact same machine in advance via the Internet, so that immediately under the little hands and into the car led. If you did not book in advance, then leave the airport and on the street look for transfer racks, negotiate and pay.
How to get to your beach in Krabi.
From Krabi Town.
If your journey from Bangkok to Krabi ended in Krabi Town, and you need to go to Ao Nang, then take a seat on the collegiate (pick-up minibus) which rides in the right direction, the price of such a trip does not exceed 50 baht per person. The journey time is about an hour, the songgoe is not going fast and often stops.
Find out if the songeteo is driving to Ao Nang from the driver. You can get to Nopparat Tara beach on the same map, but it’s better to ask the driver in advance about the itinerary or agree that he should come there.
From Krabi airport.
As I wrote above, from the airport you can easily reach Ao Nang by bus. The ticket costs 150 baht. The bus schedule is arranged for flights, so you will not have to wait long. The journey takes about an hour. In a little more detail I have everything described in the article, how to get from the airport to Aonang.
The bus calls in Krabi Town, if you need it, then you can go there. The cost of tickets to Krabi Town is 80 baht. The journey takes about 30 minutes.
In addition to the bus, you can take a taxi, both on site and via the Internet. It may even be more profitable if you are a few people. I drove for 600 baht. About the way back from Aonang to the airport.
Airport shuttle Krabi & # 8212; Ao Nang.
P.S. If you come to Krabi for a vacation and are looking for accommodation, I remind you that we have my personally collected catalog of houses in Krabi, where more than 70 houses with a map and photo. Housing for a short period can be found through RoomGuru, this is the most convenient service, I really like the card with filters there.
Layfak 1 – how I save on hotels.
It is necessary to search not only for Booking! I use RoomGuru (Android application, iOS) for this purpose. The service is looking for discounts at the same time on 30 booking sites, including Buking too.
Lifkhak 2 – how I save on insurance.
Now it is unreal to choose insurance. We need an acceptable price and work. I constantly monitor forums, read insurance contracts, and I myself use insurance. Then, to help all the travelers make up their rating.

Information on January 30, 2016 (suddenly someone will help):
Up to Krabi from Bangkok (from the southern bus station) there are two evening flights (about the morning I do not know), at 17:30 (plus minus 10 minutes I can lie) and at 19:20. The first costs 660 with something baht, the second 860 with something. We went on the second, very comfortable and comfortable bus. The one that is two-story, type VIP class. The conditioner is regulated (warm things are not useful), give rugs all at once, feed on the road (symbolically: water, goat, donut and milkshake). The armchairs are wide as in the business class of the aircraft, they recline back quite strongly, adjacent chairs do not interfere, there is a step up and even there is some kind of massage))) in the area of the waist something is inflated periodically & # 8212; funny))) so that the back does not become numb?
There is a TV for each chair, although it seems only in Thai, I did not find English. But the cartoon looked so beautiful)))
So 12 hours we drove fine)))

We took 3 tickets for our family for 3400 rubles through skyscanner. The other options seemed less adequate at such a price on the plane. From Ao Nang to Krabi Airport is still 150 baht per seat.

Kind time of the day, Thank you very much for your blog! A lot of useful information! Tell me, please, if I fly to Suvarnabhumi at 14.50, without luggage, I will have time to get to Don Muang airport if the flight is at 18.00?
2016-06-18 at 22:34 | #
Good afternoon. End result turns out. If there are no delays anywhere, you will be in time.

Tell me, please, read the information that there are private boats from Krabi to PiPi, we are planning to fly to Krabi in March 2016 after 15.00, we do not have time for the ferry, whether it is really possible to order a private boat and how much it can cost. Or order a room in the Crab?
2016-08-03 at 18:06 | #
Do you need a particular (individual), or a common one? From Ao Nang to Pee Pee can swim. Sails at 9:30 in the morning, swims for 2 hours, costs 450 baht. It’s easier to spend the night in Ao Nang than to look for some private boat in the evening, the more it will be dark.
