Bermuda!

Bermuda!

Bermuda!
And in September 2012, the Internet is full of reports that a visa to Russian citizens in Bermuda is no longer needed. We start to check everything, and the information turns out to be rather inconsistent, because in the rules in the timetable there is a visa-free entry for the citizens of the Russian Federation, India and China with a visa of the USA, Canada and the United Kingdom. In general, we were glad that if we have a US visa, we will finally get to these mysterious islands, because We were all going to fly from Buffalo.
The flight to Bermuda was taken from Buffalo via New York, with a 2.5-hour dock, by United Airlines. And on the way back flew Delta to NY. From Buffalo to NY flew 50 minutes, and from NY to the islands 1 hour and 50 minutes, the flights are fast and not tiresome. By the way, from NY the plane flies without crossing the borders of the Bermuda Triangle. Let me remind you that the Bermuda Triangle is a region in the Atlantic Ocean, in which mysterious disappearances of ships and aircraft are allegedly taking place. The area is bounded by lines from Miami (Florida) to Bermuda, then to Puerto Rico and back to Florida via the Bahamas.
Passport control passed quickly, there were no questions about visas.
Bermuda Islands – a group of coral islands in the northwestern Atlantic Ocean, possession of Great Britain. Discovered in the early 16th century by the Spanish navigator Xuan Bermudez, and named them the Devil’s Islands because of difficult navigational conditions.
Today, Bermuda is a self-governing overseas territory of Great Britain.
The monetary unit is the Bermudian dollar, equal to 100 cents.
Waterfalls and rivers and islands are not there, so the local population accumulates rainwater when rains are raining.
In general, the climate of Bermuda is mild, thanks to the Gulf Stream. During the year, there are sometimes tropical rains and downpours, but the sunny weather prevails. The usual temperature is 20-23 degrees, the maximum is 29, very comfortable, that there is no heat. Rest is best from April to October. But until June, the water in the ocean will not be very warm, tk. will not have time to warm up. During our stay, from 1 to 10 May, water was initially 21.3, and then 23.8 maximum, for us it is quite cool.
The hotel booked for 5 months, tk. the choice was not great, and the prices are not very cheap. It would be desirable certainly, hotel on a beach, and that the beach was good. First I looked after Elbow Beach, but it was more expensive than planned, as a result I liked the hotel Pompano Beach Club. In the end, and not lost, I’ll write later why. Booked on the site www.hotels.com The site was written: book now – pay later, but the hotel withdrew the amount for 1 night immediately on the day of booking. I had to find out, call in the apartment, they said to call directly to the hotel and find out what we did. They just confirmed that they withdrew the amount equal to the cost of 1 night, and if suddenly we fail to arrive, they will definitely return it (free cancellation was 21 days before arrival).
The arrow marks our hotel.
From the airport to the hotel to go 40 minutes. Practically you pass through the whole island, because the hotel is in the Southampton district of Pompano Beach Club, a family run hotel that dates back to 1956. The hotel is owned by the third generation of the Lamb family. In the lobby of the hotel you can read about it.
The beach is private, there are more than enough sun beds, and towels are also abundant. But since the hotel on the hill, the descent to the beach on the steps and only, and the steps are 60 pieces. Perhaps, someone and does not work on these criteria, the hotel. By the way, the beach bar did not work, but the waiters wore drinks from the top bar. On the beach there are sun loungers and umbrellas, mattresses for swimming, children’s toys. The beach is big, there are not many people, and most importantly it is private, strangers do not go here. By the way, there are no beaches for nudists in Bermuda.
The ocean is very beautiful! The water is clear, with a blue tinge. During our stay, the week was a complete calm, and even from the balcony of our room we could watch the fish swimming in the water, they were just plainly seen, especially the parrots, because they are very bright. Then the wind changed, and waves appeared, but very tiny. On the water you can walk left along the beach, there rock formations, tiny bays, in general, the beauty!
The food is excellent! Breakfast either on the menu, or buffet, everything is very tasty! And breakfast is included in the room price.
Restaurant for breakfast.
Restaurant for dinner.
Bus routes in Bermuda 11. Buses are easy to recognize by pink or blue colors, they are all air-conditioned, and usually go from 7 am to 11 pm. Tickets can be purchased from the driver or buy a ticket in some stores. Buses stop on demand, and with large baggage do not take passengers.
The car arrived on time, a very comfortable minivan, the driver was very nice, we set him the task where we want to stop, he did it, still on the way he was interesting to tell, and he advised where else it is necessary.
First we stopped in a very beautiful place, almost next to our hotel, behind the golf course. Bright colors just pleased the eyes! And before this cove you can walk on water from our hotel.
The beach is really very beautiful, with a pink sand. When we were there, so there was not enough people; I wrote that there were no cruise ships, because the first thing they go to when they get off the liner is this beach. I saw pictures, where people there as in Sochi or Crimea on free beaches, just an apple has nowhere to fall!
This beach is more deserted. there are periodically waves, when a strong wind is blowing, and it is not equipped with a bar, cloakrooms, etc. The length of the beach is 8 km. The sand here is also pink.
Jobson’s Cove. It is surrounded by rocks, there are no waves, so for children there is a great place!
Well, just pofotkatsya.
The symbol of the city is the dragon. The city has retained its original appearance, and many historic buildings are still used the same way as 200-300 years ago. Royal Square is the center of the city. This area was built 200 years ago. There is a municipality building, which everyone can go to.
Fort St Catherine Fort St Catherine is the first building in Bermuda, built in 1614. Since 2000 a museum has been opened in the building. Unfortunately, it was closed during our visit.
Since 1908, this hotel has been a favorite holiday destination for royal families and celebrities.
The hotel has rooms in the main high-rise building, on a hill, and in cottages near the beach.
But I wrote in the beginning, why we were glad that we chose the hotel Pompano Beach, tk. our hotel is private, small, few people, the beach is private, not ordinary, as in many hotels in the Caribbean, etc. The difference in price with our hotel was 50 thousand rubles, but I think it will spend more money than in Pompano, tk. food is not cheap, and we still had breakfast included!
The bridge was built in 1620, in the middle of the 20th century it was reconstructed. Initially, the bridge was bred manually, now mechanically.
One of the main attractions of Bermuda is Crystal Cave Cave. The Crystal Cave was discovered more than 100 years ago by two 12-year-olds who first descended into the crevice in search of a cricket ball. The cave is located at a depth of 36 meters below the surface of the earth. It is believed that the caves formed during the glacial periods, when the sea level was lower by 100-130 meters. Rain water filtered through the soil, and a subterranean stream with high acidity dissolved limestone. As a result of this process, voids appeared in the caves. The dripping water formed stalactites (from above) and stalagmites (from below). When the water level in the seas rose, these voids filled with sea water, and the cave formation ceased.
The natural entrance through which this cave was discovered is 10 meters under the arch and represents a narrow hole. For tourists, the entrance is specially hacked, artificial.
One of the first visitors to the cave was the writer Mark Twain.
The tour passes in groups, and, until the previous group leaves, the new one will not enter. We waited not for long, 15 minutes. We need to go down the stairs with 81 steps, as the poster says, at the entrance to the cave. In the cave there is a 17 meter lake, through which a pontoon bridge is laid. The water there is crystal clear! And, if you accidentally fall into the water, no one will not get it, so as not to disturb the ecology of this place.
The city of Hamilton, the capital of Bermuda, received its name in honor of Sir Henry Hamilton – the governor of the islands from 1788 to 1794, during whose reign the city was built.
Hamilton is the administrative, cultural and commercial center of Bermuda.
The city center and its main street Front Street.
Funny coloring of police cars.
In souvenir shops, prices are about the same as in many Caribbean islands.
There is still a weatherstone, which if wet, it will rain, dry – sunny weather.
Royal Naval Dockyard.
The Royal Naval Shipyard is located in the western part, on the small island of Ireland Island, connected with the rest of the islands by a series of bridges. Here is the largest fort of Bermuda, built of huge limestone blocks in 1809-1863. Now here is the Bermuda Maritime Museum and the Arts Center, shops, a cinema and a craft market. A little to the south of the fort there is a port that accepts cruise liners. Here the locomotive is running, which transports people across the territory from the cruise terminal to the Clock Tower, a snorkeling park, and stops near the shops.
From here excursions for passengers of cruise liners are made.
The phaeton is depicted on the 25th cent of the Bermuda coin.

Comments on the story.
The cost of the flight from Russia, probably, not very high. It is necessary to look.
nazzok did not see 🙂
And you did not read, probably pictures only looked 🙂 I there wrote what kind of birds, White-tailed phaeton are called.
We flew from Buffalo, via NY, 1 ticket was worth 15 thousand rubles. Up to NY tickets, I bought the cheapest tickets for 23, if I do not have time for a budget rate, then I paid 26 maximum.
but what about white birds with long tails?
nazzok did not see 🙂
And we have met such in the Maldives)

For such beauty, in principle, is tolerable.
And the question has matured. Where do people work on very small islands and what do they do?
It seems I had another dream 🙂
You just remember that you must have a US visa. I wrote the cost of tickets, 26 + 15 = 41 per person. The hotel was priced for three adults from 1 to 10 May 140 thousand rubles. with breakfast. I wrote a meal, $ 20 per person dinner, or on the menu, or a buffet, it’s very cheap for Bermuda.
Sunset in the ocean in this hotel is very smooth, and where I’m on the mattress, it’s already up the neck. The water is just very clear, and there was still a calm.
And people work in tourism, tourism is their main horse.
Thank you for the story and the photo.
With pleasure I read about such a mysterious place as Bermuda. Somehow I thought that there is no life there.
“Well, there’s another country where I do not need it.” (I mean, I want to visit :)))
