1. Kindergeld – Child Benefit.
Parents receive benefits from children who have children in their families who return to their 18th birthday. Citizens who receive child allowance must permanently reside in Germany. Parents receive the right to receive “children’s money” from the first month of life of the baby or from the moment of his registration in the country. If from the moment of moving the non-resident for some time did not know about the possibility of processing benefits, then after registering all the necessary documents, he will be reimbursed for the entire period that was missed.
Only one of the parents or guardians has the right to receive child support. The citizenship of the child does not play a role, the main condition is the joint residence of the child with the parents.
After the child’s 18 years of age, the right to benefit is canceled, but there is the possibility of extending the period for receiving social payments for children. If the child goes to school, the right to receive benefits can be extended until the student is 25 years old.
If a student receives an income of more than 8,000 euros a year in addition to the allowance or is married, the right to benefit will be lost.
Regarding the amount of child support for the first and second child in the family – 184 euros, for the third child the amount is 194 euros, the fourth child and further – 215 euros. When the first child reaches the age of majority, the next minor is considered to be the first in the family, and the amount of the allowance is reduced.
To receive child benefit payments, you must write the application in accordance with the existing form of filling, attach a copy of the child’s birth certificate & # 8212; Geburtsurkunde des Kindes. The application is sent in writing to Familienkasse at the place of residence. Money is credited every month to the account specified by the parents or guardians. For several children in the family, payments are received simultaneously.
2. Elterngeld – childcare allowance.
This is a benefit that is paid to a parent going on maternity leave. Moreover, the father of the child can receive maternity leave if he leaves work and takes care of the newborn. The amount of such benefit is determined according to the salary of the parent who goes on maternity leave. The higher the salary, the higher the allowance, but in any case, the amount of the benefit is limited to 1800 euros. If at least one of the parents earns more than 250 thousand euros a year, then this benefit is not paid at all.
In a truncated amount, childcare allowance is accrued if the parent continues to work, but according to the reduced working day schedule. The state pays the allowance only 14 months. Parents for these 14 months can go to the decree in turn. The maximum period of maternity leave is 12 months, and the minimum – 2.
To apply for a benefit in the local Rathaus, an application and the necessary documents are submitted:
Birth certificate of the child; The document that is filled in by the insurance company; Data on the incomes of parents for the whole year before the birth of the child.
